Types of VPN
- Remote-Access VPN
Also called as virtual private dial-up network (VPDN). This is mostly used by a company that has employees who need to connect to private network from several remote locations.
- Site-to-Site VPN This is most common on companies that has several branches and requires private network connection on all sites, or on partner sites, and is achieved through the use of dedicated equipment and large-scale encryption. There are two ways to do it; one is Intranet-based creates VPN to connect LAN to LAN, while Extranet-based is similar, however it sets a common ground by allowing users on VPN to work on a shared environment.
